Different Platform, Different Way To Tell A Story

Gary Vaynerchuk, founder of Vayner Media, has great insights on digital marketing. I've listened to a lot of his stuff and I've featured his videos several times on this blog. This specific video has helped me a lot, specifically when ideating or strategizing for different social media platforms.


I'm going to make this quick beacuse I have a lot of work to do (I've just been really itching to write). My two main takeaways from the video: 

1. Mirroring content doesn't always make sense - each platform (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) has a different purpose and different user behaviors and preferences. Also, there should always be room for investing in new platforms because...

2. Marketers destroy everything - I love how he reminisces about email marketing and how he used to have an 80% open rate. Nowadays that's almost impossible because most mailing services automatically categorize promotional email, or worse, consider you as spam. As younger generations become more discerning, or increase their "bullsh*t" meter as Vaynerchuk calls it, we will destroy even more means of marketing, perhaps including Facebook.
