Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell and his 10,000 hours theory

Okay, I suck at math so all this might be wrong but here it goes:

1 year is around 8,700 hours. We live an average of about 70 years, more than a third of that is spent sleeping. Subtract the few useless years like the first 10 and the last 10. So from my lazy estimation let's say we have a good 40 years of waking hours that can be used in reaching the 10,000 hour mark.

It probably takes around 5 to 10 normal years (I mean including sleeping), to become a genius at something then. One can be at least a genius at 4 things or even more if you wanted. So much time was already spent on many of the irrelevant subjects supplied by schooling. Remember, being in school does not mean you are getting an education. Many times, schools themselves are the ones that get in the way of one's education. There's a lot of catching up to do.

So based on this, the plan is to become a super genius master at beating the search engine before I'm 30 (taking into consideration I have so many other things I'm intersted in like music production, editing, etc.). At least my goals are now officially time-bound or something like that. This way I can measure my progress and have some sort of deadline.

Take note: I have not read the book. I just heard of it and read some stuff on Wikipedia. I heard there's even something about being born on certain months. I think it's a good thing then that I was born a bit on the earlier side since I'm born on April. I'm sure there's a free download of the PDF somewhere on the internet of Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. Reading it will surely make me even more powerful so I recommend that you do the same.
